I'm an idiot. A big idiot. I made a rather silly mixing error with my previous upload. Basically I forgot to send one of my overhead microphones to the ambient reverb meaning the right side was both boosted and aurally different to the left side. And it kept bugging me why things like my ride were on the wrong side of the stereo image.

These things are normally pre-configured in the recording template I use in Reaper but I created a ...

Oh man you are a perfectionist,! I didn't hear anything bad on the previous upload that I wud even consider it perfect! But believe it or not, after hearing this I listened again to the previous and I can hear some differences! It pays to have a good ear like u! +1

Love your new drums sound!! and very nice that you care so much about the quality of your tracks! as said Randall Smith (Mesa), "The thing that you do - is the equivalent of your value for other people" +1

mpointon Much appreciated, Steve! Glad you like the drum sound - it was you who told me snare was never forward enough in my mixes and helped me learn (along with OliVBee) to get a better overall production! So thank you!

But the new kick and toms have really opened the sound up (I'm still on my usual snare here). I'd always wanted a maple kit but can't believe it's taken me 23 years to get round to owning one!

I need to find similar kick drum heads for my Yamaha kit now.

Great job man. I usually don't play a lot of this style. You defiantly have a knack for it. Kenny was right. Get down with it brotha.
Cheers

mpointon Thanks, Jeebsie! A lot of my uploads don't capture the energy I put into tunes.

Unfortunately I still haven't got the hang of why some tracks do capture it and some don't - my mic setup stays roughly the same between recordings!

I need to discover what it is when I get it right and be more consistent.

Jeebsie I think the snare is confidently presented in the mix kinda like you would a vocal.

And just never touch anything in your drum room ever again;)
