I grew up obsessing over drums. Did the whole school band / private lessons thing as a youngster. Got my first kit when I was 13. By college I had joined a progressive rock band. We did all original stuff that was influenced by Pink Floyd, Yes, Emerson/Lake/Palmer, etc. Than came the dark years. I sold my kit to buy a really lousy used car (sad but true). Grades, job, marriage, house, etc. kept me distracted for 30+ years. A few years ago I was talking to a drummer who was performing at a local restaurant. He encouraged me to buy a starter Roland kit to see where it leads. I took his advice and bought a used Roland TD-11KV set off of Craig's list. I ended up enjoying the kit much more than I expected. I upgraded all the original pads through Ebay purchases and sales. Also, converted an acoustic snare to an Edrum (A2E) with the help of a Roland trigger module and mesh head. Latest upgrade was the purchase of EzDrummer 2 VSTi which has greatly improved the sound quality as compared to the Roland Td-11 drum module.
