Added a gentle Calypso on the hi-hat and kick, with the odd bit of snare in there too. Nice exercise in self-control with this splendid track.
Did try a standard salsa drum pattern but it sounded laboured and choppy. The flow of the Calypso seemed to mix in much better.

You're so right. Sax players are more guilty of this than most and always want to show off their chops. The music should always come first.
