Special Sparkle
Played on this drumtrack of Martin. I did another one a while ago.... but this sounds a bit different again...
Some structure to build on!
cheers,

Probably took an hour to write out all the changes! So glad I only play one note at a time! Good sounding tune that seems to have an optimistic vibe.

The changes aren’t so diverse.... it repeats all the time.... modulation and a little bridge.... that’s it...

There's a sort of Doobie Brothers/Steely Dan feel to this...very cool composition, Marc!!!

I'm actually surprised that you didn't...SD was the sh#t, they weren't really mainstream pop, but had a jazzy feel, sorta avant garde rock, if you will. Definitely worth checking out (again)...I recently began listening to Frank Zappa (didn't know or care much for his stuff back in the day, but to his credit, the man was a genius; a true visionary that didn't 'sell out' for commercial fame/fortune)--starting to discover gold by going retro :)

When i grew up as a child i listened a lot to all kinds of jazz, my parents are crazy about that style. My father plays in several jazzbands as a drummer so i had the chance to listen a lot to jazz.... but i also listened alot to the mainstream pop..... Zappa never realy interested me...i was in some guitarbands where i heard the guys talking bout Zappa but it didn’t draw my attention.... maybe i will give that a secondd chance... :)

I'm really glad to see you have an open mind--so easy to see where your love for jazz comes from--I, too, was 'raised' listening to parents' jazz collection, modern jazz, bebop, etc.--ended up gravitating towards fusion (a happy medium for our generation rock/jazz). BTW, recently saw a vid of Zappa's band covering "Stairway to Heaven"-he had his horn section play the Jimmy Page guitar solo...it was grand!!!
