Wade Still not be be thought of as a lesser achievement. that would have been a tough exercise. I've also done duets with Filo, that are inevitably in "free time". I never work with a metronome anyway. +2

I'm practicing scales, arpeggios and the like, whilst trying to stabilise various voicings, and I think the loathsome metrone might help co-ordinate fingers, lips, throat

Anyway... I'm not one to talk, having used a metronome once for practice in the past month +2

Ivanovitch I need learn to open and close my fingers in unison, which is one of my playing weaknesses... The metronome can help ... But I agree, to play with a groove, a metronome is useless +1

Wade It's about developing coordination rather than being a precise timekeeper. If the metronome helps that's good. If you can play accurately what you hear then that's even better...then the only problem may be in not hearing accurately...no fix for that! +2
