Viruses
A plea for viruses.
Viruses are certainly the oldest organic structures that exist on earth and are not living beings, as they cannot carry out metabolism. They are essential for life as we know it. They regulate life according to the bottom-up method. In the oceans, they make billions of tonnes of biomass available by attacking and killing bacteria. This mass then serves as food for larger single and multicellular organisms.

frankyguitar Thank you very much Dan!
I tried to put my thoughts in music. It’s ambivalent. Many know viruses as "evil" but the truth is that the overwhelming majority of viruses make our survival possible. They keep bacteria in check. And they have been doing so for millions of years. +0

Wade OK, you're hired as PR manager for Covid...must be something positive you can come you with. The music is certainly good!+1

frankyguitar LOL, I’m surly not a PR manager. But at the time all people speaking now about the dangerous of viruses. But the truth is, only some little percent of the millions of different viruses are dangerous for us
and remember, about 47% of our DNA is foreign DNA introduced into our genome by viruses.
Thank you very much for listening this one. +1

Wade Yea, as a science guy working in Forest genetics I'm familiar. People are just getting used to the idea that there are a lot of other critters that make a living out of us. We are also dependent on a lot of them for our survival. Parasites (in manageable doses) also have their place in calming down our immune systems...the reason for so many problems with allergies. We've mostly rid ourselves of those (potentially) helpful parasites! +1

frankyguitar Exact. Man somehow tends to always first (or even only) see the bad in others.
At least as soon as something is not clearly "only good". At least as long as it comes from nature.
With man-made things it is strangely enough always the other way around. There always the "good" is moved into the foreground and the negative sides beautifully small talked. +1
