Echo's Hollow
Perhaps the echoes of people we once loved still linger in the places we frequented with them and that is why we go back… Not so much to remember them as to feel them…

DirkL I went back and it was sterile and unwelcoming. There was nothing for me there. The past is overrated. Beautiful piece here, I appreciate the description.+1

Acousticeg We must abandon completely the notion of blaming the past for any kind of situation we're in and reverse our thinking and see that the past always flows back from the present. That now is the creative point of life. So you see its like the idea of forgiving somebody, you change the meaning of the past by doing that...Also watch the flow of music. The melody as its expressed is changed by notes that come later. Just as the meaning of a sentence...you wait till later to find out what the sentence means...The present is always changing the past. +1

DirkL Yes, context is always important. That's why historians don't touch anything too recent in serious writing. We need time to see things for what they really were when they happened.
As you said, the past waits for judgment by the future. For some, the past looks worse the farther away it gets, and for others, it looks like a dream.
With your analogy, we can say that the paragraphs of life can begin with sweet words or crude harsh language. Either way it's a good book. +0
