Far too sober...
No red wine in da house, but when I heard Martin's cool Motown track I had to get my bass and play Sponge Bob a bit to get that dampened Soul vibe:

HD is my bass with count-in as always. Thanks, and I hope you like my little addition :)

Thank you Nick :) And yes, but it's still my good old fretless with roundwound strings, not really the Jamerson machine (and I'm by far no player like he was) :)

it may be similar concept, i've seen some guitar players place like a bungie hair thingy up near the neck. i think it gets rid of some noice, etc. not a muffle but possibly to remove some unwanted string noise, i've yet to try it :)

Yeah, haven't tried that hair band thingy as well. That sponge surely dampens the sustain, so you get a more "Thud!" like sound like from a plucked upright - very strong transient attack, but the notes die off more quickly. Maybe that is what these foam inlays were for? Hadn't used these since what, over 45 years? :o :D

Thank you Wade, and I'm glad that you like, and honoured that you even downloaded it :) Well Martin called his template "Red Wine Motown", so who knows... sadly we don't have a category like "Motown" or even "Soul" here, would like to see & hear more of that... :)

I'm notoriously slow at getting tracks back, but will certainly enjoy the process...whenever that happens. Will try to remember to give it a Motown feel.

Lessons in not drinking too much! Love this approach, Wolfgang. You took all the notes you had in mind and then threw them all away.
You dared to play with just roots. And for this reason you gave players the freedom they need. This deserves so many adds. +1

Thank you Martin :) I'm glad that you like it and that you got my approach - although I hinted some chords like Emin, Cmaj7, or the D with a 9 on top... :) But yes, the rest is completely open :)
