The bud yearns to open,
Anxious to witness a brand new day,
But she’s been trimmed,

Her fisted face gnarled and cold,
As she is carried into cool lockers,
Where she must wait.

Her fate finally sealed
As she is arranged
And placed in a vase.

But she doesn’t want to be here.
She prefers to grow in her own garden,
Where she is untethered and free.

But she is here now,
Getting ready to travel
With other lucky bouquets.

Her face opens,
Her pout unfolds,
And she smiles,
Knowing she gets a chance
To give joy to others.

And isn’t that the greatest gift of all?
