Unlike most you bass players I'm all of 176 cm (when I stretch). Mario is an exception, very diminutive...maybe why he plays so many diminished minors?

btw we're about the same height ... so I guess I'm an exception too. :O Stanley Clarke is the norm for bass players I guess 6'3", actually I don't know where you came up with the tall bass player theory! I always thought that tall skinny guys with those long fingers definitely have a reach advantage on that big bass fretboard.

As a kid i started on piano. Fingers too short and fat. Guitar was also a non-starter. Works OK for woodwinds and brass. Bass was always way out of the question, but as you know probably my favorite...sad.

30" short scale bass instead of the usual 34 is good for small hands ... my hands aren't particularly small .. so I've gotten by with a full scale bass. I think you can get a 26" bass if I remember correctly. Would love to have a nice solid body short scale just for fun. Strings aren't as tight on a short scale.. you can have fun bending the crap out of them ... ie. Jack Bruce back in the olden days with his short scale EB3 Gibson.

I seriously thought about the rubber string ukulele size bass...but time is short and I'm still trying to get better on sax before all those "age nasties" take over. Maybe once I'm senile enough not to care?

haha, yeah, that's on Titus' track, it's got these little vocal audio clip/things in it, it's kind of trippy.
