I have a show tomorrow night so I put new strings on for friday's rehearsal, lol. They'll die out soon enough. :-)

hehe that they will!! Ever try that loosening of the strings and snapping them on the fretboard?? .. oddly it does seem to freshen them for a short while. Boiling them in vinegar is one I've never tried or did I??!! LOL I think I might have when I was around 16 yrs old.

I've done the boiling, I use dish soap - gets a few days of something more crisp; usually I play them until there is nothing crisp left in them then change them up. Historically, you can hear the cycle in my recordings on Wiki - Crisp to dull and suddenly crisp again, lol. They're so darned expensive.

the cycle continues!! haha that's funny. Just go full James Jamerson, flats that you never change ever LOL Saves a lot of hassle but unfortunately doesn't match the sound of modern rock styles very well .. hehe .. oh well :D:D

I used to chat with this guy a fair bit on YT back in the day .. he's got a video about "freshening" bass strings ... wasn't the first place I heard of this though ... he just redid the idea up and got almost 400,000 views .. not bad. He did quite well on YT even got a signature bass done up.
