MikeyJ I don’t know how much you know about the mellotron but it worked using short 6 second cassette tape recordings of an actual instrument ,one for each note ,which played when the corresponding note on the keyboard was depressed which is why it’s hard to distinguish !Used a lot by prog rock bands of the late 60’s such as Moody Blues ,Barclays James Harvest but was notoriously unreliable for stage performances ,often breaking down +1
