Thanks to Luis and Mario for this jumpin track!! I had an absolute blast singing with this - added some scat doubling on the piano riffs intro/outro and a three part harmony verse.

❤️❤️❤️ absolutely fabulous Michelle pro quality singing/harmonies//scat. I particularly appreciate your choice of scat ‘language’. When I was teaching Jazz improv/sax etc at University here in NZ a number of vocalists came to me for lessons after I’d noted that most of them were using ooobie/doobie/woobie as their main choice of vocal lines amongst other issues that limited their expressiveness. You use your choice so well. That great mixture of hard and soft. Very subtle and extremely tasteful. Just so great to have you here on WL’s🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

That would be fabulous Michelle maybe you could add some of their other favourites such as Scoobie that one came up a lot🤣 once I’d pointed them in the direction of Ella amongst others they dropped the ‘oobies’ (mostly 😀) when we finally make the move to Europe in a few years I’d love to come and hear you sing in person🙏 Until then I’ll gladly enjoy your work here❤️

Absolute pro scatting and singing Michelle, it's great to listen how much control you have over your voice ;) I've always asked myself where jazz singers take their scat verses from since I heard Louis Prima's "Just a gigolo/I ain't got nobody", especially because everybody who covers it does this part different :D

ah, thank you so much Michael! <3 i think Ella is definitely my biggest influence when it comes to improv/scat but i also take some inspiration from Louis Armstrong and Manhattan Transfer, depending on the song. if you want to hear an incredible scat improv, listen to the Ella in Rome live version of St. Louis Blues, it's an absolute masterwork!

Just listened to it... the tempo changes, the change in the swing, the scat singing... brilliant! Another masterpiece is her version of "Night in Tunisia". That melody line is incredible.

Totally agree! Night In Tunisia might be one of the very first jazz songs I ever heard on Dizzy's album so many years ago... love Ella's version, it's one of my faves <3

And it was the first song that I heard Ella singing when I discovered jazz. Not the easiest song to sing and Ella made it such a masterpiece ;)
