The Wave

The Wave, painting by Paul Gauguin, 1888. A painting that was worth nothing at the time, and which was bought by Rockefeller in 1966. In 2018, this work is estimated at 26 million €.
My Celtic harp tells you about the beginning of his exile:
In 1891, Imagine Paul Gauguin, the penniless painter from Pont-Aven, embarks on a liner called "L'Océanien". He leaves Brittany and his compatriots who do not understand his painting. He goes to the other side of the world ...

A very forthright and exacting play that evokes determination.
I've always thought of Gauguin as a lost soul who exiled himself unnecessarily and then remained stuck in a culture he never embraced, but continued to use as an inspiration. It's a sad story of deterioration. +2

yes, he was a very complex person. He left his wife and beloved daughter for exile. He was interested in the culture of tahiti island, he even helped the natives rebel against the french colonists. But I also read that he was depressed at the idea of not being recognized for his art.

It's so wonderful CarolJoyce, If I close my eyes and listen to the harp, I can see Paul Gauguin standing on the reeling of the boat near the coast of Tahiti island and looking forward to an unknown future <3

The harp is unique in it's manner of telling a story. It has the perfect tones & resonances for expressing deep emotions. Well played. I liked the background description about Paul Gauguin. So many artists do not "fit" into their times or environment. Very sad, but true.🎨✌️
