Summary. This chapter has several objectives. One is to inform readers of the enormous opportunities that exist for imaginative uses of voices with diverse instrumental combinations, both small and large. The choice of accompaniments is almost limitless: one or two instruments, chamber groups with analogous or assorted instruments, or large groups like the wind ensemble or concert band. With few exceptions, the preponderance of techniques apply to all genres and across the breadth of musical styles, easy to difficult. Whatever the chosen parameters, writing for instruments with chorus can be an exhilarating experience when the composer is prepared for the task.
