I continue with my series on the Dawn. This time a very old Shakuhachi ( 300 years) made by a Monk during the Edo period in Japan, arrived in my hands by chance, or as a result of a misunderstanding of its true value by a Japanese antique dealer who had it in his reserve for a long time, and who did not know at all what he had in his hands. It has natural overtones, so I did not ...

Lazyprune Thank you very much itocpogo! Your appreciation makes me happy. :) I find this Shakuhachi very difficult to play, it is very thin, the playing holes are very small and the mouthpiece is very worn. Despite everything I like it very much, it has a really special sound. And the fact that it was made and played by a monk who belonged to a temple for so long gives it special importance in my eyes. +1

your Shakuhachi reminds me of throat singing. to say this is a Unique Piece is an understatement. I enjoyed that percussion, too. Nice, Prune<3 +1

Lazyprune Thank you very much Anne! :) I love throat singing, especially Mongol. It’s so strange and fascinating. +1

Lazyprune
Lazyprune Yes, I had sent it to a Shakuhachi specialist in the United States for him to repair it. It was he who explained to me his age and origin. He did not do much to not damage it, except redo the inner lacquer and oil the outside. Thank you for your interest GlezBass. :) +0
