Thanks. I think it was a my Roland SonicCell. I have a handful of sound sources and I try not to venture beyond the first preset that sounds workable or I'd never get anything done.

That's a plus for using the actual instruments however one can spend lifetimes messing with miking, mixing, FX, etc.
