AlexJ prompted me to this tune. How much space to play with? I don't think I've ever seen a template so open to interpretation. Fantastic! I listened to some of the other adds but couldn't make use of them for the way I wanted to approach this.

It's times like this I wish I was Mike Clark. I'm working on some of his licks but I'm just not smooth enough yet, and if I can't make it groove, it doesn't go in. So I did my best approximation of it. Instead of taking it slow and jazzy, I went the opposite way and went '70s fusion on it - just a constant busy beat clashing away in the background. Very few fills and punctuations, just the relentless, hopefully, groove.

I'm basically playing a hybrid of a paradiddle and something else which I have no idea what it is. And it was tiring to play for nearly 4.5 minutes!

Enjoy.

Hey Martin this is totally excellent - great groove loving the precise pulse & highlights & great execution of snare/fills like at 0:38 & on - never losing the flow - love the sound, but I'm a reverb nut - Fantastic!! :)

Well thought out and giving the drive others may want to pick up on.

Perfect! Great groove and feel. I had kept the template sparse to allow players freedom. I'm glad I did!

Thanks, Richy. Great template. Whilst more challenging to come up with something, it's always much more satisfying when you do! 😀
