Birdy - People Help The People. One of the most beautiful voices and lyric writers I've ever heard.

FORMIDABLE !
These jazz lovers want to "show the world that, despite everything, something beautiful and positive can emerge from their country today". They manage to produce a lively and controlled album, still imbued with the laughter of childhood. "Inflatable Ram", recorded in kyiv in a total emergency, just before the outbreak of the Russian offensive, takes us on its fiery race towards a light universe, far from the din of war.

Just read this: https://bassmagazine.com/artists/chuck-rainey-receives-honorary-doctor-of-music-degree-from-berklee-college-of-music

And yes - they both deserve it; Chuck for his work with Steely Dan alone, like in:

And Lalah, in case you haven't heard her unbelievable performance, it's here:

You are alone in space and time and it's definitely not your day. You grab a glass of whiskey and put this disc on. Close to tears and you say yes. You are right in the middle and move to the music. You forget everything around you. This is blues!!!!!!!!

I'm ashamed to say, I'd be in to that crowd, as a sixty year old Scotsman, screaming "Get up and DANCE, ya wee fuckers!"

If he'd had a better hairdresser, the boy could have been a star.

You know that moment in a concert when the big star wanders off stage, leaving the band to entertain the crowd? This is what happens when Howe Gelb requires a little bit of Me time. Nobody's muttering "This ain't what I paid for". This is Giant Sand. https://youtu.be/9BhIKbD53ko
