<nov 27th edit: the v16 version is live on wikiloops.com by now>
Beware - this is in BETA phase, so, we are looking for your feedback and possibly bug reports if something does not work as you would expect. Please file such reports (ideally with screenshots and info what browser you are using) in the Feedback forum, and I will pick them up from there.
I'll post some more details on what has been worked on in a bit, for now I'll just say: happy discovering :)

Looking nice! More pro all the time. When I get the time to browse this version, I'll report any glitches I might find. :O:W:W

Just starting to explore v16. One thing I saw is that the tracklist on the profile page is missing the latest track. Might just be a date issue or a hard cut at Nov 18 with the beta.
I`m a bit torn about the wikiplayer. I do like the new look...but not that the soundbar covers the waveform (though I can`t honestly say why the waveform is important to me. Maybe just force of habit, so please ignore :D )

Lol we are creatures of habit. I think the combination of the old in the background that shows the track is good to have, you can see where it goes quiet, where there is a change in volume, whatever, but the new thing on top is cool. I think I can get used to it :).
P.S. if you click on the settings on the top right of the waveform you can choose old or new or both, now isn't that fantastic??

Hadn`t seen that. That is a great feature indeed.

uploading a track this a.m. and stuck on this screen in the uploading process

The file did upload but the screen didn't change to indicate it was finished.
Using an up to date Firefox .. windows 10.

Hey Ernie, old Daredevil ;)
There seems to be something odd around the preview image, which I'll have to investigate a bit further,
at least the upload process reaches its end as one would expect now, so that is one step ahead... or is that the new "black friday" preview image and a feature?? :P

Hey & thanks for all the feedback & findings, you guys are awesome!
Since rootshell & TeeGee spoilered the screenshots of the new player + settings panel, there is little I can add to that ;)
I'm calling that player feature "the bonfire", as it kinda reminded me of watching the flames in our kitchen oven (snow in germany these days), color wise.
I also feel there is a bit of collision with the classic waveform, so, as Tee pointed out, you can choose what seems best to you.
One detail that might be worth pointing out is that the frequency analysys obviously follows your volume setting, so, if it is eating up too much of your display and covering the waveform, you might as well lower the volume a tad and turn up your speakers instead.
I would not take the frequency analysis itself overly serious either, I see this rather as a nice visual addition than as a scientific measuring tool of great value tbh.
The other improved / changed details are mostly "below the surface", you may notice the changed Icons and an improved mobile display, and also do not miss the redesigned member search engine, but that is about it on the surface.
On the engine rooms end, we have leveled up to the latest php & symfony versions, included more use of ORMapper on the database level and -once again- cleaned up a whole lot of rusty and messy parts that had piled up in the early years of this project...
25,000 lines of code were changed in >360 commits in 2024,
so, take my word on it, a lot of work has been done to keep the wikiloops engine running smoothly.
Thanks go out to karuma, who put in a lot of time improving smaller details (like the new "supporting members" badge, for example) and giving advice on how to improve the interface.
I also want to give thanks to josepssv, who recommended looking into audio visualisations years back, when that was still rather experimental and not supported by most browsers.
Oh, and the "add track to showcase" glitch that was still out there is also fixed, like 1001 other rather small but inconvenient issues.
One last thing which me and karuma had a bit of disagreement on, and that I'd like to hear your feedback on is this tiny detail:
The "latest jams" list on the startpage of wikiloops now comes with a three-minute delay between your upload and your upload showing up in the list. That is nice on the server side, as we do not need to re-query these tracks on every page visit but serve the same list for three minutes, but I felt this might be irritating to you - is it?
It does have the benefit of being able to check & if-need-be remove a mis-happeded upload before it shows up there, I just wanted to point at the change in case someone noticed.

If the 3 minute delay makes sense for practical reasons, why not. But in that case a note a la 'your upload will show up in 3 minutes' would be nice. Also, if I did want to delete a track inside those 3 minutes, I would call the track up on my tracklist, right?
Thanks for all the effort you and karuma have put in ... again.

Have the upload trigger a new db pull of X # of newest tracks and make that dataset what the Latest Jams displays.

good findings!
I managed to fix the preview image,
the off unkown-image display reported by navota,
some bug on the albums player (thx Tee)
and the mute thing observed by Lazyprune.
just updated the v16, so those bugs should no longer occur.
Keep it coming ;)

Had the same issue. Closed the window, deleted the cache, opened WL again and everything seems fine for the moment. I guess Dick is migrating to the new release at the moment.
And if you jump into the beta version (see the initial post), everything should work there.
