I never liked it because a) the songs are usually just based on some sort of algorithm: Short intro, get to the chorus quickly, chorus does not have to have a lot of meaning but should be easy to remember and sing, with a few lalala hey ho and other words thrown in that everyone knows, then repeat. Costumes, dancers, some commentators with ironic comments, basically everything I hate about music and entertainment. Sorry.... and b) the worst is that it has become more and more political over the years. I am not watching that crap.

I also say every year that I'm not interested. Yet I have the TV on almost every year. πŸ˜‚

I guess it's because every year the three biggest TV broadcasts in Finland are, Eurovision, the World Ice Hockey Championships and the President's Independence Day celebrations.

Otherwise, nothing exciting has happened here.

After short brake, i made some music to Wikiloops. If I could make even 2-4 songs a month, I'd be happy.

Well I'll have time, because boxing summer break start soon. Maybe that's a good thing, because my nose is a little sore again. πŸ˜‚ The guy hit a good hook yesterday, and after that i hit my own nose in same practice about 6 times πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

There are paradigms about the ESC as being tacky, unfair, exhibitionist blah blah, whether that is still the case I don't know, I haven't watched it for years....

However, I am fascinated by the psychology that surrounds the contest. It has certainly become very popular with the LGBTQ community to the point of hyperfixation.

There is a zeitgeist factor, but apart from the politics, I'm not sure it's changed much in delivery and presentation... just got more and more daring and shocking.

My analysis... too many Countries, too much digitalisation, lack of quality, but apart from the music, it is a place to go over the top fashionwise and celebrate difference in a crazy social setting once a year. Before long I'm expecting USA to join or any other non-European Countries :o

Re ESC - I know there have always been "art contests". But it feels so wrong, and with the constraints (max 3 minutes I think), it leads to a show of commerce. I wonder how much AI is involved into "inventing" some of that stuff...

Still some acts were funny last year, like the one from Tommy Cash here: https://www.eurovision.de/videos/2025/Estland-Tommy-Cash-Espresso-macchiato-ESC-Finale-2025,estland1086.html

Hard to top even for a coffee expert like our TeeGee I think :P
