Hmm for some unexplained reason Shamika has decided to leave Wikiloops without saying goodbye, or anything really. Very unexpected and sad, and to be honest somewhat childish and selfish, as now all her songs are not recognised as "her", plus all her friends here are left wondering. I understand that sometimes people don't want to use the Loops anymore, no problem. But no need to deactivate your account, right? You might want to return one day.
If I ever leave, I will do it gracefully. Hopefully B)
Well, anyway, good luck to her wherever she went - thanks for the contribution so far, hope she finds some peace.

That could only have been by mistake. She wouldn`t just leave out of the blue. I`m sure she`ll be back under a different pseudonym.

Nah that was deliberate, she also deleted her other account (Aimee). But, maybe you are right, we will see :) SHe will be welcomed back for sure, I will miss her Forum activity and her funny songs.

It’s good you posted here that Shamika has left for good. I would have started wondering where she was at some point.
I guess she got fed up with the quiet forum. The site isn't as active as it used to be anyway, so I can certainly understand getting bored with it.
But I agree that deleting the account entirely wasn't a nice thing to do.
Well, this site means something different to everyone. For me, it was a diary where I could track what I’d learned. These days, I mostly just come here to listen to music.
I’ll be leaving for good soon and won't be making songs anymore, if things go according to plan. If not, I’ll upload songs here only occasionally.

Whatever you do, don't delete your account 😂
Yesterday Mrs. Gee and I went up the hill behind the house, took a blanket, a couple of beers, a snack and two special glasses and had a look at the solar eclipse. It was very quiet, only one woman with a dog passed us, was nice. Smoked a cigarette, took a picture and then came back home to watch Manchester united vs. Leeds. A perfect end of the day

I really didn't want to carry on the "Shamikagate" story in public but time is passing.
I know she messed up but she shouldn't be penalised for being simple and having panic attacks :)
After all I think you'll agree she has contributed to the site in many ways.

Sham wrote a poem today, she's not able to sing it or post it but she said maybe someone might enjoy (or even use) the lyrics.
Just another number
-----------------------------------
ign 178645886 and Ohhh
She's just another number in the wikilooper show
Like a sad, frustrated ghost, she haunts and hangs around
Although she has no substance, no purpose and no sound.
She used to be so busy here, a focus of attention
Now she would be lucky if she got a single mention.
For she is just a number, she doesn't have a name
Not even a 'Prince style squiggle' to give her any fame.
ign 178645886 and Ohhh
She's feeling sick, just a wayward click :o
and off to a wikiwilderness this sorry gal must go.

Probably my only real diary entry for august. Apologies in advance for the dark mood.
I seem to find myself uninspired to upload anything at the moment. Not that there aren`t great tracks old and new that would be fun to add to, but ... WHY?
When I put on my thinking cap this weekend and reflected on the past couple of months, I came to some conclusions:
- I listen `differently` to Wikiloops tracks, less in the sense of `here`s an idea I might add` but more from a mixing and arranging perspective. More analysis of what`s on offer and less emotional triggers to create.
- My adds tend to be last in line and as such don`t really offer any space or opportunity for additional adds from other Loopistas. So on the few occasions when I actually record adds to WL tracks for the most part these last few months I`ve kept them to myself.
- Even though Wikiloops is still fun, inspirational and everything else I`ve come to love about it, my two brain cells seem to be in a philosophical stand-off. Giving in to inspiration and recording music is great but the more I do it the more I get the feeling of "consuming" music and cheapening the contributions of others as well as mine. I don`t want to fall into the trap of noticing too late that adding to tracks is based more on habit than real joy and inspiration.
- While everything should be done with a lightness of attitude and touch it doesn`t mean that Wikiloop adds should be one-offs, like a tissue to be used once and then disposed off in the track trees.
Ideally, I want the tracks to have listening value - if not for others then at least for myself. And yes, I do listen to my own stuff and after going through the usual MySound stages of "That`s ok" (day 1 after upload) to "is it too late for honorable suicide?" (day 2 to day 60) I can finally listen to my tracks with the necessary detachment and enjoy if not the output then at least the idea of what I wanted to create.
So I`ve started revisiting old tracks, some of which have already gone through 2 or 3 re-recording or remixing iterations. With all the progress I`ve made regarding ear training, recording and mixing (all thanks to Wikiloops, it`s been a massive learning curve) it`s time to deepdive into the details of some tracks and try to increase my level of satisfaction to a point where I can look back on some tracks as a sort of reminder that on occasion I created something of value that I like listening to.
- Next to all that I do have a side-project going that is mostly ambient, drone-based stuff (think sound carpets on speed and you get the idea). Nothing that would fit into Wikiloops but it seems to function as a counterweight to the more collaborative WL approach.
I`m now looking to TeeGee and others to make this diary a happy place again :o

MySounds does give the same thoughts on posting, with the talent you can muster on the instrument/ song But the loops is one great place to have fun in.with just a jam. I got a new set of VeryQuietDrums And played a loop. 8 ft from the Mrs. While she watched TV. But now that I have chopped it up to pick the “bad” stuff out , it just seems , I need to re-record. But posting it after the third loop - not -
Some people, as you hear here, can nail it right off - nail it takes practice for me.

From my experience on Wikiloops, and what I observed over the years, creativity is not an endless well that will keep on giving forever. That's why many people have a phase of many uploads and activity at the beginning, but after a few years it peters out.
You can see it with many professional musicians as well, not many can continue putting out records and songs for a long time.
What I tend to do is having a long time out, then pick it up again, I find it gives me new ideas and new ways of playing. But that is just me.
So if you are a new Loopers, I can only advice you: Pace yourself, make sure you spend time on each track, make it as good as possible before jumping to the next one.
Unless you are Ernie440 - then you can upload 5000 tracks one after the other for years and years like a bass/machine/man hybrid :D

Just picked up 30 concrete slabs 50 x 50 cm which I will use for my shed floor. Each weighs 30 kg, so I shifted 900 kg into the car and trailer, and unloaded them. That's why I go to the gym for:D
So now a short coffee break, and I'm getting a second load. Best thing, it's free, the guy just wanted it gone :W

Since I happily reached 99 kg body weight in one of the last weeks after years of no dietary success, I am suddenly heading for pancakes preparation out of a blue. Must be some self sabotage encounter. Pan and butter demons.

The weather is turning, Autumn is here. Cool and grey weather, but that won't keep me from riding if it does not look too much like rain.
Nothing beats a ride in the morning to have a good start to the day, provided that the bike won't break down. On a bike made in 1969 that is to be expected once in a while.
So the old girl started up nicely, and we reached the destiny in good spirit.

Today I have a new philosophy for life. SLOW DOWN - trying to save time is counter productive
If you try to carry too many things to save time and effort, you will probably drop the thing that is most valuable or most messy to clean up. I don't know what it's call in other Countries but I call it
"Sod's Law"

I think “sod’s law” may be a corollary to Murphy’s law, which states that “Anything that can go wrong Will go wrong “ I believe Murphy was an optimist.
