Saturation is the answer

Things to know:
300 hz is where Apple sets bass for iPhones and laptops
800hz for car radios with average speakers

Here is how a good saturation plug in can help get mixes that sound good anywhere.

Listening at low volumes also reduces your monitors dynamic range so mixing at low volumes will help you as well.

You can use any live eq to find your bass range otherwise Voxengo SPAN I think is free.

Waves J37 has presets that seriously are great for cutting thru small speakers .

Both videos use saturation to get bass to come across small speakers.

This video focuses more on bass

This one explains saturation and how it helps the entire mix and why its not "good distortion and necessary".

Update: Voxengo SPAN is a frequency analyzer to simply view what frequency range an instrument has. A good EQ will also show you. You can get SPAN free . YOU DO NOT NEED TO SIGN UP. Go to link and click which format you want. Install to your plug ins folder.Voxengo used to come free with Reaper. Its great stuff.

The following frequency areas are key to getting cell phone and car stereo friendly mixes.

Slight boosts or cuts in these areas do wonders. Theres only three.

RESULTS WILL VARY but store these frequencies away in your memories:

174.62 Hz (Try a 1.05 db boost)
1664.9 Hz (Try a 1.55db boost for start)
4341.2 Hz (try a 1.5 db boost for starters)

RESULTS WILL VARY . Those are commen frequencies to start boosting or cutting to get cell phone and car radio speaker friendly mixes.

Will depend how good the original recorded signal is to begin with. Will also depend what frequencies on instruments and vocals are overlapping.

Play with those and adjust as necessary to find where the sweet points are in your exact track.

You can have multiple EQs open in the mix chain and just create a slight bump preset like this using those frequencies at the very end. You can then just select your premade preset without having to start from scratch everytime.

You can download cell phone and car radio speaker simulators and test your mixes at your desk.
