Here almost same bass line which I played on #104038 but for this record I used fretless bass.
Gear: Yamaha BBN5 II fretless with Ernie Ball flatwound strings, MXR M80 Bass D.I., Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 with some mixing.
Please, enjoy and compare with fretted one.

Great bass line mate, love it the fretless bass tone, as you have been able to check on other recent tracks I am a lover of fretless bass ;)

Yeah, I checked it out :)
I also like sound of my fretless on neck pickup. With flatwound strings it sounds like an upright and fits very well in swing, bebop, ballad stuff. +1

I now use a Marcus Miller bass V7 series converted to fretless by luthier, has the rosewood diapason (unlike the Sire Bass series) and Thomastik flatwound strings with 50/50% pickups and generally flat EQ for deep tones, and boost Of low frequencies in the DI amplifier box
I give you the same use you say, it's like a double bass hanging over your shoulder ;) +0

Yeah! :)
Sounds awesome!
My Yamaha was also converted to fretless and it's body is alder. It's a passive, so I use neck pickup with open tone and boost low and high frequencies on 3 o'clock on MXR Bass D.I. +1

So good Yamaha sound also ... the Marcus fretless it´s active/pasive, and I usually use on active mode

For me is very funny that my fretted active Ibanez with fine roundwound strings in flat eq mode sounds quieter than fretless passive Yamaha with flatwound strings.

If that has happened to me with some basses, I think that the power output of many passive pickups are sometimes better than certain active ones when amplified well; The Marcus Miller Sire has a very powerful passive output tone and the best !!... if the 9v battery runs out it still works passively without problems !! An excellent advantage, but has a very good 5-band preamp

Yess... low middle trebble and two controls on middle range, besides the general tone of the bass; total control on the hand

Thanks, Alice! I couldn't decide which version I need to do: fretted or fretless. So, I did both! I really happy that you like my line! <3
