Jazz, Jazz, Jazz, nothing like it and your bass lines adds to that Jazz edge. I love Ernie, how your lines are so powerful instead of the a soft bass because gives it a sense of mystery and suspense!

Getting very close here to copyright. I won't touch it! Let the other sax players muck it up!

I'm very serious about protecting/defending this site from copyright problems. There's so much talent here and so many creative ideas...just not necessary to go near "standards"...and this one is nearly as bad a sax cliche as Girl form Ipanema. Sorry about the serious side.

I guess the main riff is very similar but the change is different, there's no piano, the sax add is nowhere close to Dave's .. I don't think it's quite close enough for a copyright claim ... but maybe, haha who knows ... I asked Dick .. he says it's close .. I think Gabriel would have to delete the original upload as I can't do it from here ..

No need to delete, it's as you say "close". Just my own thing in not really wanting to do ersatz versions of standards. I've run screaming from sax sites where all they want to do is play/practice standards. Just not what I want from music. Playing this tune is always going to be a "version of" sound, rather than just "having a similar feel to". Not sure if that makes sense, yet it's a very distinct line I just don't cross here.

Well ... I'm familiar with take 5 of course but not all that familiar to jazz in general ... learning something like autumn leaves which I've never played off a youtube vid recently was a unique experience for me .. just a home schooled play by ear guy ... but I can understand someone not wanting to touch those standards .. LOL
