is this somehow related to the brazilian instrument thats pronounced something like "cawakinho"? sounds a bit similar, a friend of mine used to play one.

ElChorch I guess the cawakinho is more like an ukelele, but is the same tunning in both cases. The charango has five pairs of strings, instead of the four of ukelele o cawakinho. +1
