I used this mix in an unusual way. Two years ago my grandniece was born and named for the wonderful Ella Fitzgerald.
I had the idea of writing her a “welcome” song, and as I’d also long been thinking of writing a punk song, I decided to combine the two. Unfortunately I was suffering from tennis elbow and couldn’t play guitar myself, but here I found something that really had that punk drive and attitude, the excellent “Happy G with Drums -> Punk 2” by dfriedl plus Tutama – thanks, guys! I wrote and sung lyrics on top of that. Obviously the lyrics had to include both punk and Ella F themes, and “Baby, Welcome to this World” is the result. I didn’t post it here as a remix, as there would be issues with samples of Ella’s scat and excerpts of copyrighted lyrics. To hear what came out of the blender, check out http://bllklly.com/mp3/Baby-Welcome-to-this-World.mp3
