According to Mr.OliV, the closest to a Recording/Mixing Wiki Wizard we have, a good starting point is to keep recording gain low ( somewhere between -4DB up to -6DB ) & DON'T add compressor !

this is not EXACTLY what i said hehe ... i said stay away of that compressor in the recording process mainly to avoid that feel good vibe that will so easily drive you into excess mode (which can't be undone once it's there) ... a touch of compression in the mix process can be very interesting especially if you have a huge dynamic amplitude ... i personally would have gone a lil bit bolder on the low end in the mix process (though you don't have all seps do you ?)
