PaulM44 Thanks, trying to learn to constrain myself from playing all the notes that occur so as to open the piece to the background notes to carry the tune instead. I am now working to edit out unnecessary notes or that are the same as the backing tracks so that they don't really add anything. I did that here and I'm happier with it.
Thanks for listening. :|

Wade I understand perfectly what you mean. I play way too much and then need to edit down so that a track "breathes". Playing and instrument that requires breath means that we have natural phrasing, which can sometimes be a problem for sting players. Of course you play flute, so understand that. There is a "school" of cello playing that insists that the students breathe loudly and match their phrasing to their breathing. Unfortunately I've heard many of those students who develop that as a habit and ruin recordings and concerts with their loud inhales and exhales. How's that for useless information?

Ha!

PaulM44 Actually that’s no joke. My main problem with recording flute is reducing the extraneous air noises from blowing and it starts with the mic turned down 2db. The EWI has so many advantages but it lacks the fun of flute. +1

Wade The EWI has it's place with all those non instrument sounds. Makes me cringe when it's a cheap imitation of a real instrument. Good fun though. +1

PaulM44 I couldn't agree more and that's why I didn't get one before. It seems that some smart person has programmed in the Modulation, Breath, Expression, Volume, Velocity, Pitch Bend and several other parameters below each MIDI note in editable curves. MIDI 2.0 makes it sound better. There are 100 "sounds" that come with the EWI which sound like what you described and I only use the ones that are in the DAW or that I make up but all use MIDI 2.0. My objective it to make it as real as possible and match the right sound to go with the piece. +1

If someone had told me that one day I played with musicians from all over the world I would have taken for a madman. Today this is real! Thanks Dick
