Wade I've got to admit to being "jazz light" and not one of the heavy jazzers. Sax is just an instrument, like any other, and capable of playing in most genres, so it's more a matter of figuring where can I fit and (if possible) be part of a a track and enhance it. There are several other sax players here who are jazz specialists. +0

Can you play the track player?

Start and stop, right? That's easy... if you do not have to drop your instrument while doing it.
Get to know the keyboard shortcuts and control the player without ever dropping your plectrum again.
Makes practice and jamming a cinch.
