The Silent Buffalo
Well he moves along the river, walking kind of slow, ain’t look’n
for redemption cause he already knows….where to go.
He wears a rabbit foot and a tall black Stetson hat, that he bought
from Jessie James on a train and that was that
And the snow fall comes, crest upon the hills, looking towards the
trail were the buffalo were all killed….and he remembers this
Well I’ve been an Indian Walker nearly half my life, ain’t had the
time to start a bank, build a house or have a wife….but that’s the
way it goes…..you kno….they call me the Silent Buffalo….oh
they call me the silent buffalo….don’t you know
Well I shot my first bear before I even had a gun, used a bottle
rocket sling shot….faced him to the sun…and he went
down….without a sound
When the boys back in Texas where standing tall and proud, and
the Alamo was calling, the bricks were moaning loud……well I
was there…..I was the Indian fella…with the long black
hair….don’t you know, they call me the silent buffalo
Well…when the country started growing and they was building all
them dams…..they needed a local guide and they paid me forty
grand..on FDR’s plan…..prosperity they called it as they crossed
the land and buried all the bones deep down in the sand……the
buffalo cried as the Great warrior spirit died..
When Uncle Sam came calling…I went to do my time…..pay’n for
my freedom in blood, sweat, and pride…..I stood on the
hill…..where the buffalo were all killed….
Now I walk around this desert, I’m going half blind, but I got what
they all are searching for…..they call it the sublime….but it’s
mine….don’t you know…..they call me the silent buffalo
