A truly wonderful template from Mario. A bit of experimentation with this one... Trying to run somewhere between a countermelody and either polyrhythmic or free style lines. So the sax is seldom in sync/rhythm with the bass and percussion. Does it work? Maybe too chaotic? Let us know your thoughts!

Playing freewheel thinking about the melodic line without looking for rhythmic references which is almost impossible here. You know how to do it and you do it right!

Once again demonstrating your depth of hearing as you've got the essence of this! I so much appreciate your giving this such serious attention!

Even though I knew it!! you are a master Wade!! You have entered the soul of the jam with the sound of the sax to perfection! It sounds masterfully to my ears and my soul!! You move away from the microphone and I think you used your sopranino... I loved it! Thanks for joining!<3🙏

Once again you are the inspiration! I'm so glad that you enjoyed this even though it's not conforming to your wonderful rhythmic track. Maybe there is something to playing this way? Your wonderfully Andalusian flavoured rhythms and beautiful flowing chords always capture me.

If you mean the part where the volume drops down, it's a simple trick: lower the volume and add reverb. Makes it sound like it's coming from a distance. I actually had in mind (musically interpreted) bird song... which I then (lamely) try to answer (again musically). Otherwise it's a study in not playing the rhythm and still trying to make it feel OK.

Yes, I think your experiment was successful with the birdsong--it fits nicely with the genre. Lately I have been using more 50-50 reverb and delay to get effects I couldn't get before. My new favorite is Air Delay Pro.

So good of you to give a listen and comment. I'd hoped for it to sound "unforced" although not locked into the rhythm. Many thanks for the feedback!

The melody is swifting through the air while melting with the rhythm at the same time... great "lightness" and works perfect :W ;)

Thanks so much Michael! So glad you appreciate this one. to me it has some of the same interesting melodic possibilities as our mutually loved Bossa!

Definitely! Lots of room for creative and harmonic melodies with an interesting rhythmic basis. Effortless sounding, but there's a lot of complex musical "data" ;)

Hopefully I didn't make it sound difficult/complex. The object was to make it seem natural and flowing (although it really isn't).

Absolutely not Wade! What I meant was: your playing flows so effortless and sounds so natural, but for many less trained players it seems complex if they want to play like that themselves. That“s what makes a good jazz musician to me… sounding harmonic and effortless :);)

That's about a nice a compliment as one could ever want!
I've always thought that the difference between a beginner and an experienced player is that the beginner makes everything sound hard, and the experienced player make everything sound easy.
Many thanks once again. +1
