Sonny Rollins, one of the greatest jazz saxophonists of all time died this year at the age of 95. He was a genius of melodic invention and improvisation working with Miles Davis, Monk, and John Coltrane. Many Jazz critics and musicians considered him “the greatest improvisor in the history of jazz”. His best known composition “St. Thomas” is based on a Caribbean calypso.
