hmm, you're not the first person to say that. I have the EQ set completely flat on my laptop but I know a lot of people like the EQ scooped which could make the bass louder than I intended? Also, bassists like the bass loud :D

hah, the secret doesnt lie in the EQ, but in the word "laptop" :) no wonder you mix your bass a tad loud, I'd guess the laptops soundcard dont go down too low - assuming you dont mix on your laptop speakers, they propably dont do anything below 200Hz.

hmmm. I almost always use headphones (large ones, not in-ear things) and it doesn't sound drastically different when I listen through my proper hi-fi. The built-in speakers are better than most laptops (I can hear the bass on this track pretty well) but still nothing like as good as proper headphones...

bass is always hard, the diffrences on diffrent speakers are really dramatic. I never liked mixing via headphones much, I only use them while recording.
