Madchester Nights
Remember the early '90s and the 'Madchester' beats (i.e. bands from Manchester)? Bands like The Stone Roses, Oasis, The Charlatans, Happy Mondays, etc? They all consisted of the popular off-beat snare drum beat many drummers learn early on in their playing lives. A dance beat, if you will. So here's one to play around with. It's the same beat throughout, changing between hi-hat and ride, structured as follows:
16 bars verse
8 bars chorus
16 bars verse
16 bars chorus
16 bars middle-8
8 bars ...
16 bars verse
8 bars chorus
16 bars verse
16 bars chorus
16 bars middle-8
