this is a WAAAY jazzier and looser version of a song I did in my band called Verve. As a matter of fact it hardly resembles it at all. The bass player and drummer wouldn't recognize it!

Maybe he just wants you to work for it(playing hard to get). Try something more subtle, like offering to pay for it. Sometimes that works.
