Hi Guys,
I’m experiencing some strange problems in listening to the jams, I hope somebody can help me.
In short, the only jams I can listen to are those in the “recent contributions” section of the homepage (on the rightside of the screen). With all of the other tracks (inclusive of my ones..), when I click on the “play” button the cursor doesn’t move and no music comes out at all.. .
Any suggestions?
Many thanks in advance

Is it always or just now? If you shut the browser completely and try again? What browser? I had a few times a similar problem but when I restarted it was gone

Hi Tee Gee, thanks for your reply.
I pointed out the problem just yesterday (after a long time without wikilooping, indeed..). In the last 20 hours I tried restarting my pc (many times) and changing browser (firefox, explorer and chrome) but nothing changed and so far the problem is still there...

Hey Swordfish,
sorry to hear that, but we'll find a way to work this out.
I need to know two things:
1st: Are you using the italian interface of wikiloops, or the english one? If you have been using the italian site, please visit the english one to see if the same issue occurs there.
2nd: Assuming you are using chrome or firefox on a windows machine, please press the "F12" button when visiting wikiloops, it will open the so called "console" in your browser. Switch to the "console" tab, and browse to some older track. IF the playback gets stuck, you should see a red-printed error message in the console, if you do, please send me whatever shows up there, that would be of great help to figure out what is going wrong.

Hi Dick,
Thank you so much for coming back to me, I'm still struggling with this issue.. .
Here is my last update:

1)With my first report I was referring to the Italian interface. Following your message I browsed the site through the English interface but, unfortunately, it did not work as well.

2) The message appearing on the console tab (of the Italian version) when pressing the F12 button while opening an old track is the following (in bold):

L’utilizzo di getPreventDefault() è deprecato. Al suo posto utilizzare defaultPrevented.
This writing appears on the rightside of the error message mentioned above: Ajquery-1.10.2.min.js:5:17117

Thank you again for your kind interest and assistance, I hope we will work it out.

Hey Francesco,
thanks for checking this out...
The message you copied from the console is a "warning", not an "error" - errors appear in red print (please make sure to allow "all" messages, not just warnings, there are buttons at the top of the console to filter certain message types).
You should get to see quite a lot of strange grey printed messages, among them "Welcome to wikiloops dev console, please copy red printed errors and report them to Dick".
Please press F12 first, and then navigate to a new track while keeping the console open to make sure it records all messages (pressing F12 as the page loads is too late).
We are looking for a red printed message, all else can be ignored.

The very quickest way to solve this issue would work like this:
There is a software called Teamviewer which you could download for free, and which would allow me to have a look at your screen and to move your mouse from here.
Most of the time, I can find the cause of such problems within a few minutes, and you can sit there and watch as I try some things and see what is going on.
We could do such a remote session some time if that sounds good to you, I'd be glad to help and am always happy to get to see things that might need an improvement on my end (might be some browser plug-in or other local setting on your end, too).
All you would need to do is install Teamvewer, start it and send me a message with the connection code, so I can connect to your PC. If you feel that is not a good idea or have security concerns, then thats totally OK, I just wanted to mention the option.
All the best to italy

Ciao Dick,
Thanks for quick reply!
Sorry I sent you the wrong message (I'm everything but an IT expert, indeed..:))
By the way, the good news is that I know very well TeamViewer (it's already installed on my pc) and I've used it many times for working reasons. From my side, no security concerns at all: it's just a matter of letting me know your favourite day and time and we can arrange your remote assistance(for me today and tomorrow would be fine at any time).
I'm very grateful, I would never be able to work it out by myself.
Looking forward,
f.

Dick, I get this problem sometimes where tracks don't play after I have been online for a while on my Vivaldo browser (it's a chrome based one). Anyway, this is what my console is saying after I clicked a few times on play

Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: Failed to load because no supported source was found.
backingtrack-jam-114500.php:1 Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: Failed to load because no supported source was found.

Hmmm, that is something else then swordfishs "bug" - it turned out his italian internet provider was blocking the music server based on some "child safe browsing"-thing gone wild, the problem vanished immediatly when disabling that (and that was a router setting, not some installed plugin - you never stop to learn...).

Please switch to the "network" tab of the console when seeing above error, it might show you some red items indicating which source file couldn't be loaded, along with a status code (404 not found, 506, 302... connection timeout...whatever)
