Cakewalk problems

Using Cakewalk 5. The problem is when I import a downloaded loop, it sounds horrible. Distorted, sped up, etc. The thing is I had no problems yesterday, this only happened recently. Cakewalk has really been giving me some issues lately...

speed issues ... that sounds like the souncard sync is causing problems, might be an 48khz / 44.1khz issue there, too...
what about recording the streamed audio from your browser instead of file import?
I dont use cakewalk, just general troubleshooting
