ship of fools

we're all in the same boat
a ship of fools with thoughts that leak
don't have no life raft
i don't know how to swim
before i drown.

need another cigarette
need another drink
water fills our ship
we're starting to sink
trying to keep my head above water
but i can't seem to win
say a prayer for the underdog
as the undertow pulls me in
to drown.

underwater in the darkness of the sea
there's something strange got a hold of you and me
we drown in our sorrow
we drown in our drink
we're so damn drunk
we can barely think
we all sink into the abyss
of this madness and this sadness.

floating down to where
no one can tell
drowned ourselves
in this personal hell
drink when we're mad
drink when we're sad
we drink when we're bad
or lost all we've had
in this waterworld stay clear
of the abyss or you might find
yourself drowning in the madness and the sadness.
