There I was just five years old and dreaming of being a star
the years have passed I must admit I didn't get very far
I could sing like Elvis and Johnny Cash my songs were happy and sad
my friends all said that I was good the best fans I ever had

everyone would hear me sing and say I'm the best
the kids would have my poster hanging on the wall
I'd drive around in a fancy car have my self a ball
One day I went to a party we were having lots of fun
everyone wanted the dancing to start and thats when the music begun
the band they always took a rest after playing a song or two
thats when I went on the stage to show what I could do

no one else said a word they just sat there and stared
everything I had to give I put into my song
being there up on the stage I felt like I belonged

as I finished the song there came a roar I didn't understand
shouting and jeering stamping of feet everyone clapping there hands
