Man, I went back and had a look through my old pictures, this is from 1981 - I am 16 years old, I think this is the first ever picture of me with a guitar. AS you can see, I am playing a 12 string ECO guitar with only 6 strings on. First problem - I was just starting to play guitar and 12 strings is not ideal to start with. Second problem, the guitar was a friends who had it hanging on his wall as decoration, and it was not in very good shape. Strings were pretty far from the fretboard and my fingers were bleeding even though I was already working in farming and had pretty rough hands. But this guitar was killing me. Third problem: The nearest town was over one hour drive away, and I had not a lot of money... So it was 6 strings and I borrowed and begged strings from whoever I found when they broke :)

After a few month, I had to return the guitar, that's when finally I was given my first own guitar...Happy days... :)

Cool photos guys!

I don't have any high school pics of me with instruments, because I didn't play in high school, my parents didn't want me to play at all, and in the bands I was in we didn't care much about pics yet. Until I was in this one:

The guy on camera right had a deal with EMI, so this was the first band I was in the studios with. His composition wasn't that good tho, so all musicians spread out to new and other horizons... :)

I was playing an Ibanez Jazz Bass copy (which I got from my brother), and a Music Man Sabre over an Ampeg SVT during that time. I was 19, so this had to be 1976.

Here's the official record (7" vinyl) from 1978, same band as above:

Wasn't really my music, but well, this is my history (or part of it) :)

True. This was mostly the band of Günter, the guy in the middle. His older brother was with the "Bläck Fööss" for a while. But there were some good musicians, and in the studio we had some really cool guys joining us (like Markus Stockhausen on trumpet). I learned a lot in those studios, so I'm still grateful for the experience :)

What I also learned is how that marketing machinery works. They told us what to wear, how to have our hair cut, and sold me as a lover of country & western music (which I couldn't stand at the time). So now I pity those who get into that machinery at young age...

Going commercial isn't always a wise decision :)

From my gallery pictures. It was my first gig in 1971 at the local fire house along with my father also on guitar (not pictured).
We were both plugged into the same amp, a VOX Berkeley II.
Our music set consisted of The Ventures and Duane Eddy covers.
