Software to play alive by audio/video : Jamtaba

Hi loopers

Conversing with some looper, the idea of playing live through the internet with a minimum sound quality, musical latency and the possibility of watching online video. Apart from the applications that already exist known (facebook, zoom, etc etc), and other web applications like jamulus, jammr and jamkazan; I have found this free application to download in OPEN SOURCE pc system that works with ninjam servers to play jam session online: Jamtaba :W

https://jamtaba-music-web-site.appspot.com/

Maybe it's an optional natural evolution for some interested wikiloops members to explore its possibilities, if it works optimally, it would be an interesting evolution that I propose to Richard to establish a connection link in wikiloops itself in future site WL extensions; before we have to explore if it works in quality, number of users and connection stability

The basic steps are very simple if you want to try it

1. DOWNLOAD the application (windows version, MAC os or Linux) and in its menu configure your USB interface sound card, where you can configure especially the audio drivers in their ASIO version for a minimum latency
https://jamtaba-music-web-site.appspot.com/ It has a multilanguage menu ;)

2. DRIVERS If you don't have ASIO driver, you can download here https://www.asio4all.org/
This is optional, but if you use ASIO you ensure the minimum possible latency between what you play on the instrument and transmit online, if you don't download it works with the drivers installed by default in your system

3.ENTER NICK AND ROOM AND PLAY!! As always, you use a nickname (it can be the same as wikiloops) to know who we are ... and in the interface itself you will see a world map very similar to the wikiloops radio, where you will see the online users marked in their country in various rooms; You only have to use the "listen" option to listen to the room without intervening, and then the "enter" option to intervene if you like with a room metronome to adapt to the jam and click "transmit" and .... "PLAY" online !!!!

I am not an expert in web applications, but I find it very intuitive and I only propose a site to experiment on it; in a first impression I leave you my firsts pros and cons

PROS
low latency and sound quality
friendly and easily configurable interface environment (like a DAW)
allows you to record the online session in Reaper !!!
it has online chat to speak live written and the possibility of online video (I would not use it to improve transmission speed)
create a private server through IP sharing (tutorial in spanish but see you images...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trRmHUz9Or8

CONS
server disconnection
creation of private rooms ??? I have not explored this option :P

Greetings to all loopers!! and enjoy it the music!

Good initiative Mario, yes there are so many platforms where you can play online that you don't know which one to choose
What could be interesting is to certify something for Wikiloops, something Richard validates on behalf of WL
Where interested people register and possibly pay a membership
But something audio and video, Facebook style to see each other
I believe Jam Taba is just audio?
Something in multi languages
I think Richard has already had these kinds of questions?

PS: I'm bad at IT :)

Jam Taba It also has the possibility of video if you activate the camera icon, although more than the video that is interesting I think it is the low latency to be able to play all together without latencies!

Another possibility that I have not commented is the Zoom platform but modifying certain settings to reduce audio latency, in this application there is the possibility of video

In this youtube video explain the adjust to music by ZOOM

Feedback:
When I had played with Jypeka #208240 it was via Facebook lounge and recorded by Reaper for the guitar part. No latency problem for me, and I could hear JPK very well in my headphones. It's unfortunate that I couldn't record Jypeka's violin (beautiful). There must be a way and maybe JamTaba will ... under investigation ... :)

I have put this application for the interested loopers to use, and the main problem I have found is that the server is disconnected a lot ... for the rest it is an option if it will work well without cuts
