Best Time Of Day To Post A New Track?

I figure this subject may be of interest to others on the site. I do all of my recording on Saturdays or Sundays. I've realized I get a lot more replies/contributions if I post something early on a Saturday (US Central Time) as opposed to later on Sunday.
In fact, I just finished recording a remix, but I'm not going to bother posting it yet, because I feel like it'll just disappear.

Maybe the admins would know best, but what day of the week and time does the site get the most traffic?

Interesting question. I've no idea but if you scroll down to the bottom of the "Shoutbox" window there is a who's online link. Perhaps some random sampling of who's online would answer your question. Just a thought. Cheers! Mike

Some of My Favorite People are on at night. That also when I can be quiet in my studio for recording because my dogs aren't barking at all that is Invisible!

I just looked, and traffic / logins / actions are pretty much consistent during the week, so there aren't more users here on weekends compared to weekdays.

That said, time zones could play a role - your Sunday afternoon means evening or even Monday morning here in Europe, so yes if you upload something on your Sunday evening, we folks here in Europe are probably sleeping already, not to mention Asia.

But strategic thinking is usually not necessary around here, good music will always be found. There's a chance that not everything is seen (at least on the main page) if you upload several tracks shortly after each other, so only these who follow you (or these who click on "see more tracks") will see each one, so maybe wait some hours between uploading more than one at a time (in case you want to be "seen" on the main page).

Otherwise, have fun, that's the main thing here :)

As a software architect and developer, I hesitate to suggest some coding, as if developer efforts will fix the world...

However, having been an active member of numerous sites for 9 years now, I think my 2 minute old idea is interesting.

The idea:

Have a view that shows recent activity in a grid form where you can select certain column headers, such as genre or followed artists.

Vertical sorting would default to upload timestamp but likes, # remixes, etc. might also apply.

All cells would be hyperlinks of course.

The main advantage would be the ability to see more songs at once. This would address the single chronological list shortcoming.

My two cents: upload simple jams after a break. The length of which determined by complexity of your production.

Otherwise, if your planning a solo composition showcase, you can practice your showtime date-time allotment skills, targetting release dates - triangulating with genre and tempo. Or simply trust in yourself for the right time to appear.

Not quite the essence of Madvora's question...but some of us (just me?) think exactly the opposite. I'd prefer to upload on a day of the week and time when it's least busy.

I don't know the answer, but I think there are two things that let you have good responsees, regardless of when in the day you post it: 1) The more you interact with other users, re-mix their tracks and listen to their music, the more they will do the same 2) Quality - the better your music the more you will get listened to.

One thing that I find a bit frustrating is that the search page for backing tracks defaults to "Most Downloaded" so its skewed against new posts by definition.

Pretty much every time I search I remember to click the radio button over to "recently added" - wonder how many others do the same? It's good to have both options there but I wonder if recent additions might be a better default?

The [url=https://www.wikiloops.com/tracks/new.php]more new jams[/url] link under the "Latest Uploads" column on the main page defaults to newest ones, the "Search Backing Tracks" from the main menu defaults to the most downloaded ones. That way, you have both options on the same page. But you can always suggest changes in the [url=https://www.wikiloops.com/forum/viewforum.php?forum_id=2]Feedback and Suggestions[/url] forum...

Tracks do get overlooked sometimes...its just happenstance :D they get buried in the archives. Ive often revived an old forgotten track which is very satisfying. Personally for me, I'm satisfied when Ive done a good job regardless of how many people hear it. I make music for myself always trying to push myself. If my fellow colloborators are happy that is enough for me. :D

It's a nice surprise when one of your ignored tracks springs to life 6 months later. I think sometimes when you upload a track which someone likes, they check out what else you've uploaded. I do that.
