Hello all.
I had an extended absence due to a medical issue, now resolved. Glad to be back.
Great to see that this place has improved and grown over the past few years. Lots of new material to listen to.
Cheers...

Very happy to see you around again :)
I just had a look, you signed up as member no.63 of wikiloops, now, that was really early when the loops were... a bit different :)
Looking forward to hearing your bass again some time!

Thanks, Dick. You have done a fantastic job here!
BTW, the envelope icon on the right end of the header has a red "1". I click on it and nothing happens? Any clues?
Edit: Disregard. I figured it out.

Well, my old mixer/audio interface decided it didn't want to play anymore, so it'll be a few days before I can get back to recording. C'est la vie, non?
In the meantime, I'm listening to a huge number of tracks, and admiring many artist's work.
Keep playing! You all are doing a fantastic job!

I opened a big can of worms. I needed a new audio interface, and found a good one at a reasonable price. It includes a nice DAW software package, which unfortunately, my ancient desktop machine cannot run. So, now I'm looking for a new computer, but with Christmas shopping, it will need to wait until next month.
Meanwhile, I'm listening to many tracks by many fine musicians here. I am still a blues and rock fan, but several bossa, samba and jazz tracks are calling to me. I'm going to have to expand my musical horizons as I aspire to more sophisticated styles. Thanks to all for sharing your work here. You are ALL inspiring!
I wish everyone joy, hope and love this holiday season.
Cheers, David

David,
how ancient is your machine, and what's in it (processor, RAM, and so on)? Maybe someone of us here could help finding another piece of software for you until you have that new machine? Have you tried audacity for instance, which should run on pretty much everything?
Anyway, wishing you happy holidays, and have fun :)
Cheers,
Wolfgang

It's a Dell Celeron 1.6GH All-in-one with 4 Gb RAM. It runs Audacity with a Boss E-band as an Audio Interface, but recording quality is far from ideal, and latency is an issue. I just need to hang on until next month.
Planned upgrades are a Dell OptiPlex 3.2GHz Core i5 with 8Gb RAM, 256Gb SSD and a 32" HDMI display; PreSonus Audio Box USB 96 and Studio One Artist DAW.
Don't mind me. I'm just being impatient.:o;)

Similar to mine, I have a faster i5 chip (4.1GHz) and 16 ram. Also a Audiobox iTwo. Artist was bundled free with it. No need for lots of cores with S1, it doesn't seem to use them well if at all, but speed is important I think. No need for a graphics card either if you buy a chip with built in graphics. I built my own on a mini ITX board and small case but with a huge cooler that fills the case. Doesn't make any noise that I can hear. It's a Dell Celeron 1.6GH All-in-one with 4 Gb RAM. I'm very happy with my system and S1 Artist is intuitive and does everything a wikilooper would want and more.

Good to hear a positive review of S1 from a fellow Wikilooper. Thanks. No extra graphics card. The Intel chip set is standard.

Seven days and counting. Audio Interface due next Thursday. I can use it with my current computer running Audacity and get to recording. Very excited. I've downloaded several tracks and started working on them. You guys are hard to keep up with. New gems every day!
Happy Christmas to all!

Finally got the hardware finished. Desk space is at a premium so I hung the audio monitors and one of the video monitors from the wall. Next step is getting back into Audacity or looking for another (inexpensive) DAW software package.
Great to just listen with studio monitors! You guys sound even better!
Cheers,
David
