What is the reccommended bit depth and sampling rate for an added track? Are there minimums?
Looking at DAW software options and capabilities.

I think most people here use 44.1kHz and 16 bits (192kbps up to 320kbps) for their .mp3 uploads. I myself use 48k/24bit .wav files if they're not too big (like 100MB or so).

More would be overkill, less would be subpar in quality (like that 8k "telephone" quality).

I think most DAWs can handle that today. Make sure that if your setup runs on 48k and you import a 44.1k track (or vice versa) that it's resampled on import, or else you will be in another key (pitch problems) and tempo than the original.

Since you've asked for DAWs lately and mentioned that money is a factor, here are two free ones for Windows I've heard of:

https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk
https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free

I once tried Cakewalk on Windows, and it's not easy to deinstall again, will leave something on your machine, so I didn't like that too much. Tracktion is available for all platforms I think.

Hope that helps?
Cheers,
Wolfgang

Thank you.
I downloaded and installed Audacity. I used it before, so I am somewhat familiar, although it has changed since I last used it. It defaults to 44.1k and 32bit float, so I'll start there and modify if necessary.
Hoping to be uploading tracks by the end of the week.
Cheers,
David
