It was raining at the station in St Louis,
I heard it as my train pulled out of town,
The girl I loved was back in Kansas City,
Missouri rain just keep on falling down.
It ended badly down there by the river,
Some words were said that never should be said,
Maybe that's the last time that I'll see her,
And if it is, I guess that's on my head.
And the rain fall heavy,
As the train roll on,
'Cause the day I'm ready,
Is the day I'm gone.
Brooding dark and stormy like the weather,
I stare out at an unforgiving sky,
Sometimes you can hope you live forever,
On other days you don't care if you die.
The Georgia sun is rising in Atlanta,
Missouri rain five hundred miles away,
A pretty girl is standing on the platform,
It's gonna be a really lovely day.
And the rain fall heavy,
As the train roll on,
'Cause the day I'm ready,
Is the day I'm gone.
I heard it as my train pulled out of town,
The girl I loved was back in Kansas City,

Many thanks indeed to Gary and Nick for adding the words into two really great tracks. I am enjoying listening to both and recommending to others. So glad that I could contribute something.
Oddly enough, both are much more up tempo that I had figured - I was thinking along the minmalist lines of Little Red Rooster originally but then I was playing simple chords with it and thinking "Hmm more like Beggars Banquet Era Rolling Stones..."
I guess it just speeds up when you start to use it (like the train..) - Hopefully it suggests it's at least flexible. Different interpretations that enhance your original thoughts are one of the great joys of Wikiloops.
Unsurprisingly, much of it occurred staring out at the rain.

it's downpouring here in Central California, these rainy lyrics seem so appropriate. great work bassMonkey.
as I mentioned in my track post, kudos to you and others who contribute lyrics. I'm sure we all have a certain way we pick from the lyrics tree. for me, I usually have a certain flow in mind, and it's more about the length of the sentences. for this particular song, I wanted sentences maybe this long:
___________________________
as opposed to this long:
___________
haha probably doesn't make sense but that's my crude way of selecting lyrics :)

It's coming down again like stair rods,
In the city of eternal haze,
No amount of rain can wash away,
The memories of better days.
