The wisdom of the world falls down,
Around your head like Autumn leaves,
The colours pile up on the ground
Or drift away upon the breeze,
So when you find you have no time,
To separate the truth from lies,
You burn them under cold December skies.
You fear the clock for stealing days,
From some deterministic fate,
Steadfastly you avert your gaze,
Then wonder if it's getting late,
So when you find you're out of time,
You wake up much to your surprise,
Forsaken under cold December skies.
The hearts that prize a love that's died,
Above the one yet to be born,
Concede their power to decide,
The time to laugh and when to mourn,
So when you find a little time,
Try teaching yours not to despise,
Those memories of cold December skies.
Around your head like Autumn leaves,
The colours pile up on the ground
Or drift away upon the breeze,
So when you find you have no time,
To separate the truth from lies,
You burn them under cold December skies.
You fear the clock for stealing days,
From some deterministic fate,
Steadfastly you avert your gaze,
Then wonder if it's getting late,
So when you find you're out of time,
You wake up much to your surprise,
Forsaken under cold December skies.
The hearts that prize a love that's died,
Above the one yet to be born,
Concede their power to decide,
The time to laugh and when to mourn,
So when you find a little time,
Try teaching yours not to despise,
Those memories of cold December skies.

It turns out that this is the 150th lyric that I have posted on this forum. I have a program that collects them into a .pdf document and analyses them which tells me it's about 34,000 words and a rate of about 1.3 per week.
Pretty small beer I guess when you consider Kate Bush wrote over 200 songs in the two years before her 19th birthday. Generally including music and most (if not all) better than mine. But then again, it's just a hobby for me and I hear she is terrible at Software Engineering.
Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to like and/or comment on any of my posts. It's always greatly appreciated by me and I know that's also true for others who write lyrics. And what a great group of writers they are, I have not seen the forum so active before and try to check in when travelling to read the latest from Dash1, mdn, BB6, Zoot, PatrickDA and bluvation in particular. And please come back Scotty A! Three amazing songs in August and not a word since 🙁
A very special thank you to anyone who has used a lyric in a composition. It's always a pleasure to hear them and be gratified to have played some part in creating something awesome. Some have asked about posting on bandcamp.com or similar (and a few have done so) and my answer is always yes, go for it. And if you can make a few dollars, keep it - you deserve it.
In the time frame of the most recent 50, I'd be remiss not to mention Gary (axenvocs) for the stunning power and passion that he always brings to a jam and Nick (rootshell) whose versatility continues to amaze me. Plus of course, the wonderful Olivia (OKO) - and SoulFingers natch- for creating Bossa treatments for some of my lyrics with such emotional depth and lightness of touch as to be called truly magical. Merci 😄
Long live the good ship Wikiloops and all who sail in her.
