There is this popular island tune I liked on YT and I thought it would be nice to play along with. As per the backing video/track it said copywriter free to use. When I posted I made sure the credit was given and thought everything was good. Well, the I's were not dotted and T's not crossed. I missed reading some print on the bottom of the description and got a warning for copywrite. After a little research and hitting the proper channels it was removed.
I just liked the tune and wanted to play along. (Even though I am not good at it I I tried). So be careful when sharing on platforms that deal with multiple other platforms read carefully. So I am learning. 😂

Sometimes you get a warning but it says the owner gives permission to use as long as you don't make money - but it is a minefield, I agree

To avoid having any problems with whoever, on Wikiloops we allow only original content that you created. That keeps it nice and simple, and away from legal issues :)

It's an essential part of the loops from a creative angle as well. Anyone can lift good stuff, but making it ourselves is why we're here in the first place. :W

This is why I started here. To avoid such things. However, all is good with this one track because I did go through the proper steps. I enjoy creating just as much as playing along with something that I can legally share. I took no self credit. The credit was given. I just missed a small step. So there was no bad intent.

I don't think anyone suggested there was bad intent, more of a misunderstanding of the closed nature of the Loops creativity. I hope I worded that better, no disrespect meant. :)

You can't bring things in from outside and it's not at all easy to get things out either. I love that aspect - you KNOW what you hear was produced by your fellow Loopers.
