Eponymous Music

Do you have words in your title that refer to the main character (or yourself) in your song?

*Johnny's night out
*Nick's late night
*Frenzies Jam in the dark
*The great Mr T (and Mr A)
*Mike's place

I'm sure there's loads more ? ? ?

Many songs here are dedicated to loved ones... got any of those ?

Or... have you started (or been in) a band that was named after yourself ... in the old days it was always
something like "Wally and the Wikiloopers" "Dick and the Doowaps" you don't see that so much now

I often slip my name into lyrics do you?

I used to organise community events at a music site : for a music competition I got several members to write a song with my name in the title - that might work here I guess! A little egoistic maybe :)

I have done that quite often, different reasons...

- I have for instance hinted at my own name for an album title even, although the track title came from Pewi: #244288 and https://www.wikiloops.com/album/21657-The+Wolf+I+Am.php
- I have taken over patterns if these were started by others, like in the titles of #217997 or #200251
- I have "featured" others when mixing things together like in #215351
- if others had names in their titles, I often left those untouched, like in #196285 or in #188673 or #183902
- I also have "referenced" other composers when my own playing "stole" some ideas/themes like in #194061

I'm sure there were more, can't remember everything...

Nice one, so I had a look, found a few of my tracks:

“Kimbo n'me live” – # 169657 basically me and Kimbo jamming live to a drum track in his home

“The Tofu TeeGee Dog Bone Blues” #164406 , the original track was “The Tofu T-Bone Blues” – so a small variation on the theme ;)

“Endless TeeJazz in your face Kimbo” - Track # 159898 – Hahaha Kimbo said I can’t play Jazz so I gave it a go. To be honest he is probably right :D

“If 6 was 9 or 3 Fishi Gee” #151124 – this one is one of my favourite tracks on Wikiloops. The name comes from the confusion about the time stamp, the confusion starts already with the first upload of the drums.

“Trademark of Mr.Baer + Fish & Geeps” #151123 – another Fishinmissio one, + Mr. Baer and some dubious word play ;)

“Kimbo's Steinfeld jazzy thingie I” - #135446 – Kimbo…again???

“TeeGee Blues ft. TeeGee” #122924 – before anyone comments on my massively inflated ego here, hold your country horses. The original track was written and sung by our dear late Don_T about me, and no I did not pay him to write that! He asked me to add some guitar at the end…R.I.P. Don, miss you buddy!

“Go Santa Go (SantaGee on Git-tar)” #122446 – Don turned me into Santa, not my fault I swear

“Precious Time ft. Kimbo” - #109952 – another Kimbo one. I can see a pattern here

“Gems, Ernie & TG got da riddim mon” #103193 – some reggae-ish madness with Gemmy (RIP) and Ernie

“Liebe & Todt (death by TG's guitar)” #99533 – not mayn dared to listen to this one as the title gives a clear warning of danger :O

“Don's Boogie Freestyle Stomp” #96639 – this one was named in the hope it would entice Don to sing on it – which he eventually did

“Song for Mo” #89416 – in memory of my old friend Mo

“Chillin ft. Ray, Kimbo, TeeGee+Pico” #84537 – a cool remix with some of Wikiloop royalties chipping in.

“~ Fast Pamela ~” #80908 – a song dedicated to my fastest motorcycle riding friend – unfortunately the song was never finished and is still waiting for a singer. If anyone fancies having a go, I got the details give me a PM ;)

“Pico's Second Chance” #43645 –my mate Incivanpico snging his heart out

“No Wray there's a Link to TG” - #44249 – this is actually a pretty clever title imho ;) , and I have to say a bloody good tribute track – unfortunately most people here are probably too young to know who the tribute is and what his music sounded like.

“Martin's Pink Piper Tee Geezzersize” #57687 – do these jazzy things force me to add my name to the title??

“Atmazghees Indian Lightshow (final)” –#76344 – my old friend went to India, came back a new man. There is even a video of it [youtube]V-pU3XdfwdI[/youtube]

i don't think i've used names in titles, but have used my fellow loopers in lyrics.

#229593 - Rocking Trolley-Boom Boom Boom Room
this one is a bit Shi-inspired, since she's on the trolley handing out tea and cookies

"riding on the trolley sipping tea" is a Shi nod

"zedders in the back pumping out the beats" nod to zedders' groove here

"trolley stopping for a new face i said "hey man, can you play the bass?" - that's just me asking for a bass line to this track :)

"so pick your poison and come on up lay down that track so we can tip our cup" just a nod to fellow loopers to join in

i've used others in other tracks as well, just don't recall.

i don't typically write about myself but have written about experiences and/or loved ones. this one still brings up memories that i don't like to go through, but music is a form of therapy and expression.

#235511 - it's a quick view of losing my daughter (2015), "lifeless eyes". i don't talk about it but that final gaze into her eyes has always hit me hard. i did have a hard time singing that one, and still have a hard time listening to it today.

You are very brave to open up so tenderly with this track rootshell. I had a very similar thing happen and it took me years to write about it in a song. To this day I never released it, I hold it next to my heart alone.

Didn't really write a song about her. Now other (neighbours') cats are visiting us, but it's not the same - she was with us for about 12 years or so after she chose us as her feeders and family...

I can see why you loved Tuna. Pets like that leave a hole in your life because they love you too. My cat, Henna lived with us until she was 19... although she wasn't overtly affectionate, I got immense pleasure from watching her and she was a comfort in difficult times. No songs but lots of poetry... which I can't find now
