I've been watching the Athletics World Championships tonight and I'm amazed the way so many of the 100m ladies look. Eye lashes like sweeping brushes, bright colored hair, jewelry, make-up... long fingernails, tattoos, hair braids and ornaments....... and then they run the race like bullets at less than 11 secs. I imagine it gives them all confidence to decorate themselves so much, but I couldn't run with a gold necklace banging up into my chin I don't think :)

Something I always enjoy when I first open wikiloops each morning, is looking at the new stuff that's comes in overnight. Because of where I live (England) There's usually uploads from the West. Europe and Eastern areas are ahead of me so I come in again around lunchtime and see what's up :)

Now, how do I find something that immediately grabs me and says "Listen" Well it has to be the following order :-

1) The title, something interesting, intriguing, cheeky, romantic, challenging or something where I may already have lyrics that match the idea.

2) I look for templates that may be fresh, something with no remixes yet (or not too many) As a singer, I can't have too much backing, unless it's a 'screamer' opportunity :)

3) Seeing a friend or someone I've worked with before.... then I know it's going to be good for me. Often I keep going back to my favorites.

4) A quick look at the instruments, if there's something dominant like a violin, sax, big lead guitar etc then I usually don't like to tread on any toes. Although some generous uploaders always leave a space for others.

5) Finally, I'll have a little listen and depending on how long I stay listening I'll know whether it's my sort of thing or not

There are other things I look at, like 'compliments' and also, what the musician is asking for. So you can see how time consuming (but enjoyable) this choosing can be. Am I alone here or do others have a criteria for picking... not just mixes to add to but also just to listen to :)

Thanks "it" but don't hold your breath, I kinda burnt out on forum activity at the moment. I'm an 'all or nothing' "entity" and right now I got nothing i want to say - zero, nada, diddly-squat and sweet F A. Depression is creeping in I'm afraid. It happens :(

Well it's not a very cheery post to come back with, sorry, but :-
Last night I had the most horrendous nightmare. Someone (a strange man I think) was asking me to kill him and then kill myself. I wish I'd woken up then but the dream went on. I had a long antique looking sword in my hand and started to poke, prod and slice this person. I won't go into detail... suffice to say that every time I thought it was all over, they would come back and beg me to carry on, it was like Groundhog Day. It became so bad I made myself wake up. I was too scared to go to sleep again in case the bad stuff continued. I can't shake the image. Anyone had this dream (or similar) and what could it mean ?

Early on in the loops... sometimes I would thumb myself! ouch :O ... if I really liked the tune especially. These days I no longer do that, I guess I'm suspicious of the #13, if my upload reaches 13 thumbs, I look at that as bad luck ... so I do keep a thumb in reserve when that happens to change it to 14 .. just did that actually. If I already thumbed myself and it reaches 13, I'm pretty much screwed ... I'd have to ask someone to thumb my track, which is of course ridiculous and so is this post. Just a little quirky thing I find myself doing. :O:D edit: I just realized I can't thumb myself in forum posts!!! :O:O

Awesome idea!! haha Makes sense to me anyway, but on the other hand, maybe it's good to keep it to keep crazy superstitious people on their toes :O Surely 7 thumbs should be considered special and lucky :D

Lol I am free of any superstitions, so I don't care about numbers. I was going to say what TeeGee said about numbers and things that are 'lucky' to some people are unlucky to others.... like black cats for instance ; and Tee, I don't often dream (or maybe don't remember) but they are probably telling us something about our psyche in a cryptic way maybe. I worked out that I'm trying to get rid of something that won't go away.... but I think we all have stuff like that if we're being honest..

The dream type that annoys me most is these where I try to strike someone who has done something bad, but I can't, it's like something is holding my arms back with a rubber band. Or if I try to run in my dreams, it's horrible it's like I am trying to run up a steep mountain, my legs just won't move and I wake up really frustrated. My uneducated take on dreaming is, the brain is organizing itself while we sleep, sort of defragmenting the hard drive, and we are not really supposed to remember it at all. But we do for various reasons, and that's when you get these dreams. I really believe in "sleeping over a problem" - I always find that the next day I have a better solution to a problem than the day before.

My ear is attracted to music everywhere I go and sometimes it's a problem.

* I can't concentrate on traffic if I'm driving
* Music in films and TV shows gets more attention from me than what's being said
* If I hear music in a shop or along the street, I will start to move in time with it or sing along
* I can hear music at a much greater distance than speech
* Even when I turn the volume down so that no-one else can hear it.... I still do :)

I hardly ever remember dreams but I did a few days ago. In the dream it seemed like nobody was paying much attention to whatever problem I had but on reflection it was because I wasn't making any sense and the other people had been hospitable and patient. I was reminded of an accident when working on a farm when a cart full of young seasonal workers had turned over spilling us all ot. One girl had a huge cut across the back of her thigh right to the bone but was in shock and only frustrated that she'd lost her trainer and nobody seemed to care about that. We had to find it so she'd stop trying to get up.

Zedders, 'the lost trainer' incident reminded my of a relative I had who ran a long stay guest house for older people. One morning at breakfast, one of the diners fell forward into the meal (actually died). While everyone was trying to deal with this, one old gentleman complained to the staff that he was still waiting for his tea and toast, apparently totally unaware of the fuss around him :) Shock does make people focus on little things that seem important to them, maybe it's a way of escaping the truth.... but I'm getting in too deep with my pseudo psychology now :)
